Albino/Amelanistic [ TOP OF PAGE ]
Albino simply means lacking melanin. The appearance of the snake has a white/yellow head and body with a red/orange tail. Peter Kahl produced the first heterozygous form in 1990 from a single wild caught male that was imported from Colombia in 1992 the first 3 captive bred Albinos were born out of a litter of 22.

Caramel-Albino [ TOP OF PAGE ]
The first Caramel Albino boas were bred in an unknown Texas Pet shop this recessive trait is a Tyrosinase-positive Albino demonstrated as a T+ or T positive. As a baby it is light pink with a red tail, as it matures it turns to bright yellow with a lighter red tail this morph has red eyes.

Coral [ TOP OF PAGE ]
This phase is in my opinion is the best Albino boa on the market today! The colour, which is lavender/purple, only gets better with age. The red, which is only visible on the tail with normal Albinos, runs through the whole body. Peter Kahl was the first to produce these in 2000 from the original bloodline.

Albino striped [ TOP OF PAGE ]
These are very high in colour. Peter Kahl bred the Albino stripe using his Albino and Matt Schram’s striped boas in 1995.

Albino Arabesque [ TOP OF PAGE ]
This stunning co-dominate morph was first produced in 2000 by breeding Peter kahl’s Albino and Steve Hammond’s Arabesque. This is a very attractive, red orange and white snake.

[For Pictures & more Information of the Albino Arabesque Boa see the Peter Kahl website]

Anerythristic [ TOP OF PAGE ]
Sometimes referred to as a black Albino this is lacking Erythrin. The key ingredient in many other more desirable designer morphs such as Ghost and Snow. There seems to be at least 2 strains of Anerythristic 1 is brownish and the other is more silver.

[For Pictures & more Information of the Anerythristic Boa see the Peter Kahl website]

Hypo-melanistic [ TOP OF PAGE ]
Meaning reduced Melanin. Being a co-dominant gene this is a homozygous form of heterozygous. This is a very deep orange/red looking snake often called Orange tail.

[For Pictures & more Information of the Hypo-melanistic Boa see the BoaMorph.co.uk website]

Salmon [ TOP OF PAGE ]
A light salmon/pink colour Hypomelanistic snake. This was first bred by Richard Ihle. These are independent from the orange Hypomelanistic linage. Again this is a co-dominant gene.

[For Pictures & more Information of the Salmon Boa see the BoaMorph.co.uk website]

Arabesque [ TOP OF PAGE ]
This pattern morph has very thin saddles often with black fleck although efforts are being made to clean up the fleck. A co-dominant gene first bred by Steve Hammond.

Ghost: [ TOP OF PAGE ]
A double gene morph produced from an Anerythristic and a Hypomelanistic which is a white, silver and grey colour this is very attractive.

First seen in 1994 when it was imported from Columbia it is a co-dominant gene, which has a fantastic pattern. The patches have linked the full length of the body along with some impressive stripping.

Pastel [ TOP OF PAGE ]
:Pastel Boa Constrictors have a light bright appearance, as do most boas when they are born. Most common Boa Constrictors darken as they mature. But pastels stay light
The linked photo is from the high red/orange bloodline (kubsch) bred in germany, this is a dominant blood line, the colour intensifies as they mature and grow.

[For Pictures & more Information of the Salmon Boa see the BoaMorph.co.uk website]

Pearl [ TOP OF PAGE ]
A pearl boa has been produced by Jeremy Stone it is almost white. It still has strong markings. There is not a lot of information on this particular morph. Sadly she passed away from kidney failure. ( Jan 2003 )

Striped [ TOP OF PAGE ]
A recessive gene first bred by Matt Schram. The stripes length can be variable. Peter Kahl got 1.1 of the only 4 striped boas from Matt Schram on breeding loan and also bought one of the females from him. This was in the early 90’s.He bred the two striped boas together and got all striped boas proving the genetics to be true.

[For Pictures & more Information of the Striped Boa see the Ralph Davis website ]

Reverse Striped [ TOP OF PAGE ]

[For Pictures & more Information of the Snow Boa see the Peter Kahl website

This was produced by Ralph Davis in 1999 this unusual morph seems to have both albino and Anerythristic colours with one pink eye (albino) and one grey (Anerythristic). It even has a double coloured tongue he has not breed from his only female yet but will probably be recessive.
