Albino
Ball Pythons are what has made this species
so popular,
Amelanistic T- (tyrosinase negative) were
the first to emerge in the hobby some
12 years
ago, since then several other lines have
been produced. One of the most recent
and surely
the most spectacular looking is the oddity
labeled the Paradox Albino. Not all of these
morphs have been proven to be genetic a next
to the mutation means it is a proven genetic
morph, Please use the drop down menu's
to navigate through the different Colour
/ Pattern and Albino morphs.
Thanks to Kevin McCurley
of NERD, RALPH
DAVIS REPTILES , Vin Russo of CUTTING
EDGE HERPETOLOGICAL INC, for their permissions
to use there photo's, and there continuing
work with the various morphs, without their
commitment we would not have the morphs available
that we have today.
If you know of a new Ball Python Morph please drop us a line so as we can
add it to our list.
Albino
T- (tyrosinase negative) [ TOP OF
PAGE ] Albino
ball pythons can also be described as amelanistic,
(lacking melanin), this is a simple recessive
gene that does not produce the black/brown
pigment. The background pigment on the normal
ball python turns to white whereas the blotches
turn shades of yellow. The first Albino Ball
Python was bred by Bob Clark. A
wild caught albino male from Ghana was purchased
in 1989 as a juvenile this was grown up and
bred to several females in 1990 to produce
heterozygous animals. These were then bred
back to one another in 1990 when the first
albino's emerged from a clutch that had been
maternally incubated. Since then more Albino
morphs have been bred. See drop down list
for other Albino Mutations.

Lavender [ TOP
OF PAGE ] A
new Albino Strain where the usual white
background in the Albino is replaced with
Lavender,
and the yellow a "NEON" yellow
edged in pumpkin orange, the
eyes are a deep ruby colour.A
pair of these animals, the female owned by Ralph
Davis & the male by Nerd were
bred together by Ralph Davis in 2001
and a clutch of four produced all Lavender
Albino babies proving this mutation to be
genetic

Caramel
Albino T+(tyrosinase positive) [ TOP
OF PAGE ] A
simple recessive mutation also known by
Albino T+ (tyrosinase positive), or Xanthic.
Caramel
Albino's have a yellow/orange body colour
and lavender/orange patterning. The pattern
is typically distinct in smaller animals
and a bit more muted on adults. First bred
by NERD in 1996 proven recessive
by VPI in 1999 .

White
Smoke [ TOP
OF PAGE ] Another
form of Albinism? Possibly a form of the
Caramel Albino. This form differs from the
caramel albino visually by lacking orange
and the muting of the pattern.,it has a two
tone soft yellow body coloration with rose
hues in the patterning. This snake also has
a peppering of normally pigmented scales.
As yet it is an unproven morph but breeding
trials by NERD are being done to
prove it's mode of inheritance with a male
specimen jointly owned by VPI, Freedom
Breeder and NERD.

Faded
Albino [ TOP
OF PAGE ] A
very pale yellow Albino mutation, as yet
unproved. The faded Albino came about by
breeding two normal albino's together the
resulting clutch contained half Faded Albino's
and half "normal" Albinos. [For Pictures & more

Hi
Contrast Albino [ TOP
OF PAGE ] A
very vivid strain of Albino with a sharp
contrast between the white and the yellow
even the adults keep there youthful appearance. A
simple recessive trait [For Pictures & more

Albino
Caramel Glow [ TOP
OF PAGE ] A
double recessive morph combining the orange
ghost morph and the caramel albino. They
are much paler than the caramels, the lavender/purple
is very obvious. One distinguishing characteristic
of this animal is the ruby red eyes. First
produced by NERD.

Paradox
Albino [ TOP
OF PAGE ] Unproven
in the Ball Python although it is a known
genetic trait in the Kenyan Sand Boa. The
paradox-albino appearance is of an albino
with freckles of black pigment scattered
randomly on the body. This morph has showed
up in a couple of clutches. Ralph Davis hatched
out a Paradox Albino this year ( 2002 ) and
will be growing this up along with it's sibling
to try to prove a genetic inheritance. [For Pictures & more

Albino
Spider[ TOP
OF PAGE ] On the 1st of march 2003 New England
Reptile Distributors (NERD) struck gold with
there third attempt
for this
stunning creation a truly man made peice of art. Made
from a Hi-Contrast Albino (recessive) and a spider (Codominant)
it is one of the most advanced and sought after morphs
on the market today.
